kubota L3400dt 4 wheel drive problem

I have a kubota L3400 4wheel that lost the front drive. This happened while I was using my hole digger in a boggy area. I disengaged the front drive after hearing a rumbling noise coming from the right side of the tractor just beneath the drivers seat. Rear wheels and PTO works fine. Are there any suggestions?

James. The most COMMON 4 wheel drive failure is drive shaft coupling coming off. Need to get the tractor where you can get all four wheels off the ground. Then start it and engage 4 wheel drive listen for noises. Under the tractor you will find a tube that covers the front drive shaft. This tube slides together and than you can see the real drive shaft. There is a small three inch coupling on each end of this shaft. The couplings are held in place with a roll pin driven in the center. When this pin comes out the coupling will move off the shaft and then you have no ft. wheel drive. Try and listen for that noise again and let me know what you find. Your noise coming from where you said it is does not sound like the shaft coupling. Your description of the noise sounds like it is from the point that the drive is engaged there in the transmission. That would be a broken shift fork which is about second on the list of failures.
